Laparoscopic cystectomy is a minimally invasive procedure used to identify and remove cysts or masses from one or both ovaries. Cysts are of various types like Simple cyst, Dermoid cyst, Corpus luteal cyst. The cyst wall is alone removed and the ovary is saved.
During the procedure, whatever is the size of cyst, Dr. Mala Raj removes it laparoscopically by placing the cyst in an endobag. The patient can go home on the same day. Even huge cysts like the Dermoid Cyst can be removed laparoscopically without spilling the content by placing in the Endo bag, thereby saving the ovary. While removing the cyst, the ovarian reserve (egg producing capacity of the ovary) should not be affected. Dr. Mala Raj does the surgery in a manner by which the ovarian reserve is not affected.
