Factors like age and genetics cannot be controlled, but the food habits can be modified to increase fertility.
Avoid bad carbs and embrace good carbs:
Carbohydrates are the real enemies. Human body digests complex carbohydrates like cookies, cakes, white bread and white rice quickly, and turns them into blood sugar. In order to neutralize the blood sugar, the pancreas releases insulin into the bloodstream. This high blood sugar inhibits ovulation.
On the other hand, if you consume good carbohydrates like food items containing fiber, fruits, vegetables, beans and whole grains, they are digested slowly. It gradually maintains the blood sugar and insulin, thus increases the fertility factor.
Say no to Trans fats and consume unsaturated fats:
Commercial baked and snack foods, animal products, French fries and some margarine primarily contain Trans fats which increase the insulin resistance. This process prevents/slows down the transport of glucose into the cells by the insulin. Such high insulin levels cause a lot of metabolic disturbances that affect ovulation.
Get Protein from Plant foods rather than red meat:
Avoid consuming too much of red meat. Obtain the same amount of Protein from plant-based foods like beans, nuts, seeds and tofu. These low-calorie foods not only increase the fertility, but also help in losing weight.
Prefer Full-fat dairy products:
It is identified that full-fat dairy products decrease the factors which works against getting pregnant. Consuming one or two servings of high-fat milk or other full-fat dairy products like yogurt creates better chances of pregnancy.
Multivitamins – Folic acid and iron:
A recent research carried out in the Harvard study, which happened for eight years, proved that women who took daily multivitamins containing 400 micrograms of folic acid and 80 milligrams of iron were 40 percent less likely to experience ovulatory infertility over the ones who didn’t.
